Icelandic Sagas to be Filmed

Some of my friends know that I have an inordinate fondness for the Icelandic sagas ("better than Icelandic butter!"). So imagine my excitement upon reading this! According to IcelandReview - Online:

Icelandic Sagas to be filmed

Producer Fridrik Thor Fridriksson plans to film the Icelandic Sagas but says due to the state of the Icelandic movie industry they will all be made in English, reports the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RUV.

The movie Bjolfskvida, Beowolf, based on the heroic epic English poem, will debut in Iceland in January.

Filming for another movie based on an Icelandic Saga, Encounter with the Enemy (Ovinafagnadur), is scheduled to begin early next year.

Fridrik Thor, who produced Bjolfskvida with Anna Maria Karlsdottir, and Sturla Gunnarsson, told RUV that the movie had received rave reviews when shown to 1,400 people in Toronto, Canada recently.
