Reading material

Readers of this blog may enjoy an essay I wrote for the SCCLL newsletter about how libraries contribute to a successful city. http://www.aallnet.org/sis/sccll/pdfs/spring07.pdf

Once you read it, you will understand why I have not been posting recently.

What a great article, Jackie! I really enjoyed reading it - p. 23 for those who have trouble looking through the SCCLL newsletter. I am watching articles pile up in the Boston Globe about a number of towns closing their public libraries. I can't believe they won't regret it and re-open them. It's such a small part of town budgets, and so useful to so many people -- who mostly don't know they'll need a library until the moment when they do! I wish the town officials making these decisions would read your article!
