Tenure and Creativity

When I first received tenure, it sparked a remarkable increase in creativity. I suddenly felt freer to experiment, both with my research and my teaching. I don't know if other academics have had the same experience or not. I suspect it was a combination of feeling more secure and feeling a sense of approbation from my faculty peers. However it came about, I have enjoyed the sense of creativity and freedom to explore and be more myself. It is surprising to see how much it changed things for me.
